"The world doesn't disappear when you close your eyes, does it?"
Leonard Shelby

Memento was Christopher Nolan's second feature film, released in 2000. It was his first to be produced in America, shot over a period of 25 days. It was produced by Jennifer and Suzanne Todd.

Summary Edit

Memento follows the character Leonard Shelby as he searches for the man who killed his wife, while suffering from short-term memory loss.

Structure Edit

Memento has a unique way of telling Leonard's story: the film is divided into alternate colour and black and white sequences. The colour sequences chronologically take place backwards, while the black and white sequences move forward through time. The end of the film sees the black and white and colour sequences match up in the chronological timeline.
