Brent was the manager of a hotel in Colorado Springs. Robert Angier booked a room at the hotel, telling Brent that her needed the room indefinitely until he could arrange a meeting with Nikola Tesla. Later, men turned up at the hotel sent by Thomas Edison, and Brent told Angier about Edison's rivalry with Tesla. The men eventually burned down Tesla's laboratory, and Angier left.
